Researchers have completed the first gene therapy procedure aimed at stoping age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Allen Ho commented, “What’s unique about this particular clinical trial is that they are trying gene therapy surgically delivered to the sub retinal space to try to modify the disease process of dry macular degeneration." A study recently done out of the Mayo Clinic, looked into the risk of strokes due to anti-VEGF therapy for AMD.
