Dr. Mitchell Fineman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Fineman completed his medical internship at UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. He performed his ophthalmology residency and two year vitreoretinal fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

Following his formal training, Dr. Fineman was in private practice for three years as a vitreoretinal surgeon in Pittsburgh, PA and was a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Fineman is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. He is an Attending Surgeon at Wills Eye Hospital and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University

Dr. Fineman is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He is also a member of the Greater Philadelphia Ophthalmic Society, an organization dedicated to the continuing education and information sharing of ophthalmologists throughout the tri-state area where he has served as Secretary/Treasurer and President. Of special interest to Dr. Fineman is sports related ocular trauma, and he has served as the team ophthalmologist for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2003.

Dr. Fineman has served as an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He currently serves as a medical expert for the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program of the Department of Health and Human Services for the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a Diplomate, National Board of Medical Examiners, and he is a lecturer for the Medical Resident Education Program at Wills Eye Hospital, as well as the medical students at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson

University. He also lectures at numerous meetings and programs for the communities of the greater Philadelphia area. He has authored numerous scientific publications and also is an investigator for several major international clinical trials. Dr. Fineman is a highly regarded expert in his field and has been honored with inclusion in Best Doctors in America®, Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists, Pennsylvania “Top Doc” and South Jersey Magazine “Top Physician”.
