52nd Annual Retina Society Meeting

The Annual Retina Society Scientific Meeting was held recently in London, UK where multiple Mid Atlantic Retina Doctors and Fellows presented on a wide array of topics. Allen Ho, MD serves as the current Retina Society Vice President, and helped organize the weekend program as well.

On top of helping to arrange the meeting, Dr. Ho presented on “RGX-314 Gene Therapy for Neovascular AMD: Interim Results of an Ongoing Phase I/IIa”. Jason Hsu, MD also presented in the AMD session on “Dorzolamide-Timolol vs Placebo Drops as an Adjunct to Intravitreal Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Injections for Incomaoplete Responders with Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration”. He served as the moderator for the Surgery session during the weekend meeting as well. Michael Klufas, MD presented a poster on “Short-term Outcomes of Eyes Switched from Intravitreal Aflibercept (IVA) to Ranibizumab (IVR)”. Closing out the weekend, Carl Regillo, MD, served as the Presiding Officer for the “Artificial Intelligence and The Retina session”.

Our current retina fellows, excelled in their presentations as well. David Xu, MD presented a poster on “Outcomes and complications of in-office laser demarcation of peripheral rhegmatogenous retinal detachments”. Ravi Pandit, MD gave a presentation on “Distribution and Practice Patterns of Retina Providers Across the United States”. Lastly, Thomas Jenkins, MD gave a presentation on “Patient Comfort and Antimicrobial Efficacy of Aqueous Chlorhexidine Compared to Povidone Iodine as an Ocular Surface Disinfectant Prior to Intravitreal Injection: A Randomized Clinical Trial”.
